SIMPLE PLAN CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF “I’M JUST A KID” WITH THEIR FIRST CHILDREN’S BOOK
With I’M JUST A KID: The Story of Simple Plan arriving March 9, 2027, the band is sharing their inspiring story with a whole new generation of young readers!
MONTREAL, QC | September 16, 2026 –
Twenty-five years after Simple Plan first introduced themselves to the world with their debut album, “No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls!”, the multi-platinum rock band is celebrating the milestone by bringing their story to an entirely new generation with their first children’s picture book, I’m Just a Kid: The Story of Simple Plan, arriving March 9, 2027 via Post Hill Press and distributed by Simon & Schuster.
Taking its name from one of the songs that helped launch the band’s career, I’m Just a Kid: The Story of Simple Plan draws from Simple Plan’s own journey to tell a story about friendship, perseverance and never giving up on chasing your dreams.
Illustrated by acclaimed Filipino artist Jomike Tejido known for his vibrant and imaginative style, the book features band members Pierre, Chuck, Jeff, and Seb as young versions of themselves and follows them as they discover their passion, learn the importance of compromise, and find their place in the world.
Just as importantly, the book celebrates the role mentorship can play in a young person’s life. Rooted in the band’s true story, it shines a light on a very special music teacher who believed in their potential and encouraged them to keep going even when the path wasn’t easy. It’s a theme very close to the band’s heart, especially now that they all have children of their own and have become mentors themselves, meeting many young fans who look up to them and are inspired by their journey.
"As parents, reading bedtime stories to our kids was always one of our favorite and most sacred traditions. For that reason, writing this book has been an extremely fun and rewarding experience, and we’re so proud of how it turned out!
When we started the band, our fans were young teenagers and our music helped them get through difficult times. A lot of these fans are now becoming parents and it feels really special to connect with them in a whole new way as they enter this exciting new chapter of their lives.
We’re so thrilled they are sharing their love for our band with their kids! It’s been absolutely amazing to see so many young children at our shows and we’re so grateful that a new generation is discovering our music.
We hope reading this book is a fun and bonding experience for many young families and that it inspires kids all over the world to chase their dreams and never give up."
The book arrives at a milestone moment for Simple Plan. Twenty-five years after their first album, the band’s career has been on an impressive ascending trajectory thanks in part to the remarkable resurgence of “I’m Just a Kid”. The song became a global social media phenomenon thanks to millions of people recreating childhood photos together and generating billions of views across social platforms. Parents who grew up with Simple Plan are now sharing the song with their own children, creating an unexpected multigenerational connection around the band.
As the band continues to play arenas around the world, performing for both longtime fans and a new generation hearing their music live for the first time, I’m Just a Kid: The Story of Simple Plan gives them a new way to share how their own journey began while encouraging young readers to imagine where theirs might take them.
The themes at the heart of the book also connect directly to Simple Plan’s longstanding commitment to giving back. $1 from every copy sold of I’m Just a Kid: The Story of Simple Plan will benefit the Simple Plan Foundation, which supports charitable organizations focused on giving access to musical instruments to underprivileged youth, supporting mental health initiatives, and helping young people in need.
